A little about my story

Diana is the yogi and Carmen is the artist

A woman who looks to see; a woman led by the heart and the felt reality of experiences; a woman wired for connection, carrying a longing for seeing the self and the other in all of its range from light to dark. That woman is me, Diana Carmen, a devotee of mystery and a lover of the human interface our souls get to embody in this life.

I am

Originally from Transylvania, Romania  and my life has been split between a love for the land that birthed me and a love for the world at large. Curious from nature, I have embodied many roles, professions and life paths during my existence on this planet.

I wanted to change the world through politics and diplomacy at first, tried my way with civic activism and the non-profit sector, stepped into the business world driven by an empty heart and a greedy mind and found myself being thrown back into the black tides of self-awareness. The work I have done with myself and on myself led me softly & patiently into the creative world, where the camera, the body and the word -written and spoken- became my preferred mediums for self-expression.

I have asked myself relentlessly whether what I do is relevant.  In a world flooded by images and representations of reality, I was wary of not further contributing to the noise and the distraction that became the common illness of our time, without actually having something valuable to share with the world. As legitimate as the question was, I can now admit that it was partially fuelled by a lack of self trust, which has plagued my ability to act for many years. Only through a rigorous and constant practice of yoga & meditation -which I am also a teacher of- did I disentangle myself from it. I like to say that Diana is the yogi and Carmen is the artist.

This website stands as proof that I have managed to reconcile and honor both callings within me; one is that of spiritual development and the other is the need for radically honest self-expression.

Here you will find a collection of works done throughout the last years, seemingly without a thread that connects them, yet very much reflective of my own personal evolution as a human and a soul. They are illustrations of a growing bond with the natural world, where my body becomes the canvas for the supreme creatrix: nature herself.

Hope they move something in you. Or evoke a sense of being closer to the world and to this mysterious force that animates us all, often without us knowing it.

Let's make eye contact
